Village Roadshow Studios is excited to welcome the arrival of Mortal Kombat 2 from New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures, along with Apples Never Fall from Universal International Studios, and La Brea Season 3 from Matchbox Pictures.

These exciting productions join the prestigious roster of films shot at Australia’s largest film production studios, along with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the Disney+ series, Nautilus, based on Jules Verne’s novel, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, which have recently wrapped filming at the studios.

“The recent announcement of the 30% Location Offset rebate by the Federal Government demonstrates their commitment to the industry and paves the way for future productions,” Lynne said.

Mortal Kombat 2, with assistance from the Federal and Queensland Governments, and City of Gold Coast’s Production Attraction Fund, is expected to bring in A$68 million and create over 560 jobs for crew members and cast.

Apples Never Fall is based on the best-selling novel by Australian author Liane Moriarty. The series from Heyday Television is managed by Matchbox Pictures, part of Universal International Studios and will create 260 jobs for local cast and crew.

The third instalment of the popular La Brea series, produced by Universal Television and Keshet Studios and managed by Matchbox Pictures, will create over 200 jobs for local talent and benefit 300 local businesses during filming. It is expected to contribute A$66 million to the national economy.
