Australia’s leading music recording and scoring stage, Trackdown has followed up their work with Sony Animation on the The Mitchells vs. The Machines with their next project Hotel Transylvania 4 which is set to be released later this year.
The scores for both of these projects was recorded remotely using Source Connect and Zoom in The Simon Leadley Scoring Stage under strict Covid-Safe conditions which for Hotel Transylvania 4 included spacing the 67 musicians 1.5 metres apart (4’11”).
The score composed by Mark Motherbaugh was co-ordinated by Trackdown’s General Manager Elaine Beckett and recorded by the in-house Engineering Team; Craig Beckett (Score Engineer), Rose Mackenzie-Peterson (ProTools Operator) and Liam Moses (Assistant Engineer).
Advantages to film & TV scoring in Australia:
- Musicians are a total buy-out with no residuals
- Players can overdub during the same session
- Players can be booked in 3 or 4 hour sessions
- A maximum of 3 x 3 hour sessions can be done in 1 day
- If you are doing Source Connect sessions from LA the time difference means you start recording in your afternoon and finish late at night; and when you wake in the morning, the edited files are delivered and ready to mix, which takes advantage of a 24-hour work day.
