This month the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced an impressive line-up of 395 prospective new members invited to join the organisation, the world’s preeminent movie related organisation comprising of highly accomplished filmmakers from across the globe. The list included 10 outstanding film professionals from Australia.

The NSW artists and executives invited to join, and their branches/categories include: Rosemary Blight (Producer); Wayne Blair (Director); Amanda Brown (Composer); Oscar Nominee, Genevieve Camilleri (Visual Effects); Darren Dale (Producer); Kylie du Fresne (Producer); Victoria Treole (Marketing and Public Relations), and Margot Wilson (Costumer Designer).

Other Australians invitees were Oscar nominee, Matt Everitt (Visual Effects) from South Australia, and Cannes Film Festival Short Film Palm d’Or winner, Charles Williams (Short Film and Animation) from Victoria.

Membership selection to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is based on professional qualifications, with representation, inclusion and equity remaining a priority of the Academy.

The new invitee list is also a win for diversity with impressive stats including 46% women, 39% underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 53% coming from countries outside of the U.S.
