After hosting the 2024 AACTA Awards and Screen Forever Conference, the Gold Coast is celebrating a flying start to the year with four productions already being filmed in the city, as well as locally shot blockbuster Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire hitting cinemas with a bang last month.

So far this year, the Gold Coast Film Commission has supported productions Black Snow Season 2, Rock Island Mysteries Season 3, Good Cop Bad Cop, and Spit, providing location support and funding through the City of Gold Coast’s unique Screen Attraction Program.

The City’s Screen Attraction Program is the first of its kind in Australia providing financial support for film and television productions, including animation, streaming, online screen production and post‑production.

These incentives not only give our local screen workforce the chance to gain practical experience but also continue to put the Gold Coast on the map as Australia’s best filming destination.”

Gold Coast Film Commission

The City’s newly created Gold Coast Film Commission and a 300% increase in screen funding to more than AU$1 million a year will support a greater number of international, interstate and local productions filmed on the coast. The Film Commission offers the industry a one-stop-shop for all their needs on the Gold Coast, ranging from location assistance and permitting, to introductions with local crew.

The Gold Coast Film Commission is part of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), a global non-profit organisation that provides advocacy, connectivity and education for film commissions and screen businesses.
