The Kimberley region in the northern-most part of Western Australia is arguably one of the most beautiful parts of the world. Covering 421,451 square kilometres (approximately 261,000 square miles), an area three times the size of England and three fifths the size of Texas, you’ll find red sand cliffs, unspoiled blue waters, deep gorges and long dusty roads.  Your Kimberley experience can be as rugged or luxurious as you want.

Despite the vast landscape, the region also has established infrastructure and film friendly communities. Eight major productions have filmed in the Kimberley, including features Australia, Satellite Boy and Bran Nue Dae and National Geographic documentary Birthplace of the Giants. Five productions, including two feature films with international producers and one TV drama series are currently considering the Kimberley for shooting.

The region has responded to the influx of interest by establishing film liaison officers in key locations, people who have a wealth of local knowledge and who coordinate with Screenwest on location scouting trips.
