Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk recently announced new film and television production studios will be built in Brisbane, Queensland.
The Premier made the announcement in Hollywood in early June as part of her trade mission to the United States and said the $12 million funding commitment would see the establishment of a fit-for-purpose studio for small film and television productions.
“Queensland’s screen industry is thriving, and my government’s support for this new studio will bring a new wave of investment in the creative jobs of the future,” the Premier said. She continued:
“Queensland is recognised as a production paradise and film-friendly state, and we are known internationally for our diverse and unrivalled natural locations, strong financial incentives, world-class facilities and award-winning talent and crew.”
The location of the new studios and initial tenants are expected to be announced in the new financial year.
The Premier met with key executives from major screen industry players including Netflix, Technicolour, Disney, and renowned Brisbane-based production house Hoodlum.
