VFX house Method Studios has a global reputation for outstanding creature animation on projects including Game of Thrones, Christopher Robin and Jumanji: The Next Level, so their award-winning team of artists relished the challenge set for them on the highly anticipated new adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches.

Film Victoria supported Method Studios Melbourne by providing Warner Bros. with competitive PDV incentives to secure a VFX package on the film.

Method Studios VFX Supervisor Glenn Melenhorst said their multi-talented artists once again stepped up and delivered on the creature animation and set extension shots they worked on for The Witches – and they had a lot of fun along the way.

The team at Method Studios Melbourne were also excited to work with director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Contact, Back to the Future), who is known for successfully telling stories around great VFX.

“It was terrific to work with someone who was so focused on story; what makes a sequence great and how do we push every shot in service of the story, or a laugh. Paired with that were Robert’s years of experience working in VFX and animation. He understood the process better than most, so his trust in us and our work was very encouraging,” said Glenn.

Starring Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer and Stanley Tucci, The Witches is now streaming on HBO Max in the US and available to UK viewers to rent on Premium Video On Demand.
