Global Method Creatives Converge Ahead of VES Awards 2020
One of the most prestigious events dedicated to honouring the craft of VFX, the 18th annual Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards took place January 29, 2020, attracting a wealth of artistic talent from across the world. Held at the iconic Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and hosted by comedian Patton Oswalt, the celebratory evening recognised achievements across features, TV, commercials and special venue projects, and provided colleagues with a welcome opportunity to connect in person over a libation (or few).
Ahead of the lively affair, the Method Studios’ Melbourne leadership team, including EVP of Global Studio Operations Simon Rosenthal, VFX Supervisor Glenn Melenhorst, and Executive VFX Producer Ineke Majoor, visited Method’s Expo location in Santa Monica for a high-powered meeting of studio-wide creative minds.
In addition to Method’s LA-based talent, the Method Melbourne crew were joined by teams from Vancouver, Montreal and San Francisco, resulting in a global collaboration of more than 20 supervisors, producers and studio heads.
The group discussed past, present and future projects; shared best practices; evaluated workflow enhancements and set goals for the coming year.
Prior to the VES Awards gala, the Method Melbourne team got a taste of home at the Ausfilm-hosted VFX it in Australia! soiree held January 28 at West Hollywood rooftop hotspot EP & LP.
Method Melbourne’s VFX work can next be seen in theatres on black comedy Downhill, followed by Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.
