Melbourne is set to become a hub of international television creativity at the inaugural FUTURE VISION summit this July.
Attracting TV’s hottest and most in demand creatives, including three-time Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Lee Sung Jin who created Beef, and award-winning co-showrunner, executive producer and director of The Bear, Joanna Calo, FUTURE VISION promises to be a catalyst for new storytelling, which promotes collaboration across the hemispheres.
Presented by Australians in Film with support from VicScreen and Screen Australia, FUTURE VISION will be held at Melbourne’s ACMI (Australia’s national museum of screen culture) from July 15-17. The summit is co-chaired by Bruna Papandrea, one of Australia’s top producers known for hits like Big Little Lies and The Undoing, and Tony Ayres, the creative brain behind award-winning dramas like the Netflix international smash hit Clickbait and The Slap. Rebecca Yeldham, whose credits include The Gift and The Motorcycle Diaries, will serve as the summit’s Creative Director.
Tony Ayres said: “FUTURE VISION is a chance for Australian and international storytellers to assert the centrality of courage, creativity and truth in making screen content. It’s a celebration of our shared and common identity as artists.”
The summit is structured to offer both intimate and invite-only workshops, alongside a broader industry-facing conference with the aim of creating new Australian stories that will resonate across the world and appeal in highly competitive global markets.
Headline guests Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo said jointly: “We are thrilled to be a part of FUTURE VISION, as we are both very near-sighted. From Talk to Me, to The Slap, to all things George Miller, Baz Luhrmann and countless other incredible filmmakers, we have long been fans of Australia’s film and television community and look forward to learning more and discussing the future of storytelling, both locally and beyond.”
FUTURE VISION is also proud to have industry support from the ABC, BINGE, Netflix and Stan. The Venue Partner is ACMI.
