Brisbane is Queensland’s sprawling capital city, containing a dry-hire studio facility, Screen Queensland Studios: Brisbane, which is situated near an international airport, and has a wide range of picture-perfect locations.

Slick contemporary cityscapes, gritty laneways, urban parks, historical architecture, industrial sites, serene countryside, waterways and more, the wider Brisbane area has it all — complete with a sunny, subtropical climate.

BRISBANE – DIVERSE LOCATIONS, STRONG TRACK RECORD

The wide streets of downtown Brisbane doubled for New York in Thor: Ragnarok (Marvel Studios), Tokyo in Pacific Rim: Uprising, Los Angeles in San Andreas and for London in the upcoming film The Portable Door.

The brutalist architecture of the Queensland Art Gallery in the city’s creative precinct of South Bank was ideal to transport audiences back in time to the 1980s, to the University of Miami in Young Rock. Production of season 1 which was based at Screen Queensland Studios: Brisbane.

The final scene of the Chinese comedy At Last 玩命三日 took place at the riverside 1900s industrial building, Brisbane Powerhouse — now a chic contemporary arts space. The building lies adjacent to New Farm Park, from where the city’s skyscrapers can be seen in the distance.

One of Brisbane’s more surprising locations, The Chinatown Mall in the inner-city nightclub district of Fortitude Valley was used in Godzilla vs Kong.

Brisbane is home to a wide range of historical architecture. Disney+ sci-fi series Nautilus was recently filmed at the city’s historic Old Museum at Bowen Hills.

Jumping out of the city and to nearby Moreton Bay, select scenes for the upcoming Universal Pictures romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise were filmed at Tangalooma Island Resort. The white sands and calm turquoise waters were an easy double for Bali.

Universal NBC series JOE vs CAROLE is the latest international project to film at Screen Queensland Studios: Brisbane. Surrounding locations throughout the wider Brisbane area provided ample opportunity to pose as both Oklahoma and Florida within a small, convenient radius.

Suburban streets and bushland in the Mount Cotton area provided the ideal backdrop for Paramount Pictures’ Love and Monsters, which was the first production to occupy Screen Queensland Studios: Brisbane in 2019.
