KOJO has proudly announced the addition of Paul Nelson to its team as national Visual Effects Supervisor. With an impressive career spanning more than two decades and over 30 feature and episodic credits, Paul brings a wealth of experience and expertise to KOJO.
Originally hailing from the UK, Paul made the move to Australia along with his family in 2017.
His extensive background includes key roles such as Artist, Asset Supervisor, CG Supervisor, and VFX Supervisor at esteemed studios like Sony Computer Entertainment, MPC London, DNEG, Method, Mill Film, and MPC Adelaide.
Paul’s creative journey goes beyond technical prowess and production acumen – he possesses a profound understanding of creative storytelling and the pivotal role visual effects play in enhancing narrative immersion. His portfolio boasts an impressive array of credits, contributing to iconic franchises and critically acclaimed movies such as Nautilus, Hocus Pocus 2, Joe Vs Carole, La Brea, Finch, NightBooks, Mortal Kombat, The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance, John Wick 3, Aquaman, Black Mirror, Fantastic Beasts, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Maleficent, World War Z, Life Of Pi, and Prometheus and many more.
“On the back of significant VFX growth, we have been looking for a supervisor with the right skills, knowledge, personality, and cultural fit for our business. Throughout the process, Paul was a standout; straight away, he understood our passion for creating films and the deep creative relationships we have with our clients in Australia and Hollywood.”

As KOJO continues to expand its client base in the global entertainment arena, Paul’s seasoned expertise and meticulous attention to detail aligns with the studio’s reputation for delivering world-class work from its Australian studios.
“It’s an honour and a privilege to join a well-known company such as KOJO to lead their VFX offering across their studios in Adelaide and Melbourne,” says Paul. “I’m looking forward to the exciting challenges ahead in 2024. To help grow the VFX team in the years to come and build upon their already well established reputation both here in Australia, and across the globe.”
“I’m very passionate about all aspects of VFX creation, but I’m also just as passionate about the crew. Building a team of strong, creative, like minded people is one of the major keys to success. The three most important things I have come to learn over the years is to have passion, perseverance and patience. And from my experience, if you stick to those, you can’t go too far wrong.”
