Eric Bana, Robert Connolly, and Made Up Stories have called “cut” on their latest feature film, Force of Nature, the highly anticipated sequel to smash hit The Dry.
Based on the bestselling novel by Victorian author Jane Harper, Force of Nature was filmed entirely in Victoria.
Force of Nature spent seven weeks filming in numerous stunning locations around the state, including the Dandenong Ranges, the Yarra Valley and the Otways – all of which are easily accessible from downtown Melbourne. Each of these locations play a key role in the murder mystery where the landscape serves as much more than mere background.
“Jane has once again provided a thrilling story that gives us another chance to showcase a unique and incredible Australian landscape,”
Eric Bana
Force of Nature reunites the successful team behind The Dry – Victorian writer and director Robert Connolly, with Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Jodi Matterson producing for Made Up Stories (Anatomy of a Scandal, Nine Perfect Strangers, The Undoing), alongside Bana for Pick Up Truck Pictures and Connolly for Arenamedia.
“We are delighted to be re-teaming with Rob, Eric, Roadshow Films, Screen Australia and VicScreen to bring another beloved Jane Harper novel to the big screen. Force of Nature is also a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase the talents of an amazing group of women in some of the most stunning landscapes in the country,” said Papandrea, Hutensky and Matterson.
The film follows the story of five women heading out into a remote wilderness on an executive retreat. When only four women return, Detective Aaron Falk investigates, discovering secrets lurking in the mountains and tangled webs of friendships, suspicion and betrayal among the group.
Bana reprises his leading role as Detective Falk and is surrounded by a cast of world-class local talent including Anna Torv, Deborra-Lee Furness, Richard Roxburgh, Tony Briggs and Jacqueline McKenzie.
Force of Nature was filmed across regional Victoria with the support of VicScreen’s Regional Location Assistance Fund.
