New SAFC and Screen Australia supported drama series Stateless will be shown at a prestigious international Drama Summit in London next month, presented by co-creator, producer and star Cate Blanchett.
The new six-part series, which was shot entirely on location in South Australia, with post-production also completed in South Australia, will be presented at the Content London conference as part of an exclusive “case study” event featuring Blanchett, NBCUniversal International Studios President Jeff Watchtel, Matchbox Pictures MD Alastair McKinnon and actor Fayssal Bazzi (Top of the Lake, Peter Rabbit).
Co-created by Blanchett, Tony Ayres and Elise McCredie, Stateless stars a multi-award-winning cast including Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), Jai Courtney (Terminator Genisys, The Suicide Squad), Asher Keddie (The Hunting, X Men Origins: Wolverine) and Dominic West (The Wire, 300) and tells the story of four strangers whose lives collide at an immigration detention centre in the middle of the Australian desert.
Commissioned by the ABC and supported by Screen Australia and the SAFC, Stateless is a co-production between NBCUniversal International Studios’ Matchbox Pictures and Blanchett and Andrew Upton’s Dirty Films. It will premiere in Australia on the ABC in 2020.
